Voting, Misunderstood

This year, fewer than 40% of voting age Americans will actually vote.
A serious glitch in self-marketing, I think.
If you don't vote because you're trying to teach politicians a lesson, you're tragically misguided in your strategy. The very politicians you're trying to send a message to don't want you to vote. Since 1960, voting turnouts in mid-term elections are down significantly, and there's one reason: because of TV advertising.
Political TV advertising is designed to do only one thing: suppress the turnout of the opponent's supporters. If the TV ads can turn you off enough not to vote ("they're all bums") then their strategy has succeeded.
The astonishing thing is that voters haven't figured this out. As the scumminess and nastiness of campaigning and governing has escalated and the flakiness of candidates appears to have escalated as well, we've largely abdicated the high ground and permitted selfish partisans on both sides to hijack the system.
Voting is free. It's fairly fast. It doesn't make you responsible for the outcome, but it sure has an impact on what we have to live with going forward. The only thing that would make it better is free snacks.
Even if you're disgusted, vote. Vote for your least unfavorite choice. But go vote.

National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

As many of you know, September represents National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. As we commemorate the month, we will remember all the children who have lost their lives to the disease, think about all the children who will face life-long side effects from their treatments, rally behind all the children who are still actively fighting the disease, and continue our work to ensure that future generations will never have to battle childhood cancer.

This year alone in the United States over 12,000 children will be diagnosed with childhood cancer and nearly 3,000 of them will not survive. That number represents 3,000 children who will never experience the normal every day joys of life – going to school, hanging out with their friends, or simply being given the opportunity to grow up. Of those 12,000 children diagnosed, none of their lives will ever return to the “normal” that some of us take for granted. These facts are saddening, if children are the future of this country and the world – shouldn’t they be given the opportunity to live long and productive lives?

As we enter September, let’s all take a moment to reflect on the battles we have faced throughout our own lifetime. These battles have no doubt been difficult and challenging, and some of us may have even battled our own cancers. If that is the case, we know what it is like to go through treatments and navigate through the uncertainly or to see our loved ones do the same. Can you imagine feeling that way as a child?

We hope
that everyone will take a few moments to spread the word about just how many children in the United States are affected by cancer.  I hope that you will share this with your family members, friends, colleagues and even strangers as we work this month to raise awareness of the disease as well as funds to find the cures that all of these children deserve. Septembers profits will all be sent to The Children's Cancer Fund Of America (www.ccfoa.org).

Change and its constituents (there are two, and both are a problem)

People who fear they will be hurt by a change speak up immediately, loudly and without regard for the odds or reality.
People who will benefit from a change don't believe it (until it happens), so they sit quietly.
And that's why change in an organization is difficult.

What career should you choose...

For all the younger people in todays society.

Try looking into your hobbies and interests. Many people start out their careers with their hobbies and interests and find a way to get paid for it. Most times students start college with one major and completely change it by the time they're a Sophomore or Junior. What happens is, when your in high school you really aren't exposed to the vast job opportunities in the world and are typically restricted to well known careers such as a fireman, teacher, cop, astronaut, etc. Don't worry, by the time you are in college you will have been exposed to enough out in the world to have a good idea of what you want to do. You can always start out in college with an undecided major or liberal arts major to get a feel for different classes.

"Tiger's Wood" - Infomercial Parody

HAHAHAH. Not much to say about this just watch it.

NFL's Ilegal Hits rule

The NFL's newly toughened enforcement of rules against dangerous illegal hits has been greeted less than enthusiastically by the very people the league is attempting to protect: the players.
Current and former players were critical Wednesday of the league's announcement that it would escalate the penalties for players who deliver illegal blows, including possible suspensions, even for first offenses. The NFL's announcement Monday came a day after an alarming series of hits in Sunday's games left several players with head injuries.
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison, one of three players fined Tuesday by the league for illegal hits Sunday, threatened to retire, and other players said Wednesday they long ago accepted that the sport they play is perilous.
It's a dangerous game, It really is. I think they all signed up for this game knowing that it's dangerous. . . . Nobody wants to see anybody get hurt. That's not why they play the game. But we also know the physical nature of this sport is that people do get hurt."
Brady said at his weekly news conference that "sometimes I guess guys cross the line" and he accepted that league officials would "enforce the rules however they see fit."
Harrison was less accommodating a day after he was fined $75,000 for a hit Sunday on Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi.
"There's nothing really else I can do and that's why I'm so frustrated," Harrison said in a Sirius satellite radio interview. "How can I continue to play this game the way that I've been taught to play this game since I was 10 years old? And now you're telling me that everything that they've taught me from that time on, for the last 20-plus years, is not the way you're supposed to play the game any more. If that's the case, I can't play by those rules. You're handicapping me."

The Infamous Congress!

So the U.S. congress. Its a great thing right, screwing hard working americans as a job. Senior citizens work hard their whole life just to retire and not bein able to draw enough social security to live off of each month. I just wanna see them quit out of the congress and try to live off of what they give everyone else, Crappy healthcare and social security! Obama also is not much of a help, well he is not at all. Just one more IGNORANT person trying to run a country. This country needs some serious help, What DO?

8 hours and a movie

The Jersey Shore

What does blogger think about "Jersey Shore" Personally
even though its hilarious sometimes, i still find it pretty stupid
its the same thing nearly every episode. Going to the club and
calling people fake.
I can't figure out why so many people enjoy/watch it.
Explain if your a fan?

Favorite Indie Music?

this is a song from Iron and wine one of my favorite indie artist.
Name some of your fav indie songs and artist!

Only time leaving the U.S.

So i went to Australia in 2006 and felt like sharing a few photos.
Ignore the bad quality i had a pretty bad camera back then.
Sydney Opera house, and the Sydney harbor bridge.

This is Uluru(Ayers Rock) Located in alice springs which contains many
ancient painting by the Aboriginal People.

A closer up shot or the sydney opera house, you can see the amazing
Structure alot better here.

And this last shot is from the very top of the sydney tower which is the tallest
standing building in Australia.

Is Weed's running on fumes?

With the show's stellar first two seasons in the distant past, Weedshas become a very different type of show than the one that debuted in 2005. And while there's still plenty of entertainment to be had watching Nancy try to keep her family together and out of jail, I fear this fugitive road angle needs to hit the ground running sooner rather than later in order to convince me its not just another futile attempt by the writers to recapture the show's original magic. Giving the characters something interesting to do other than talk and run (not to mention bringing Kevin Nealon's Doug Wilsonback onto the stage pronto) would be a step in the right direction.
So the famous Call of duty series is back. The new game Black Ops drops on November. Whats Bloggers opinion, and are you getting it?

Lil Dee ft. Snipe "Never Let Go"

They should be the next big thing. Better than wayne and drake and those other crappy rappers.
Agree?

Fallout: New Vegas

Well, that was quick. Bethesda says it has just released an automatic update for the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas. The fix resolves quest and scripting issues in the game, and Bethesda says it's "working hard to make this update available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game as soon as possible." We'll let you know more when we know more.
